Summary
How do you get control over the screen resolution in VirtualBox using Fedora 29.
TODOs
Here are some open “TODOs” I can think of on 25APR2019THU:
- Might “lock up” the session when it goes idle on it’s own … this is a problem.
Modify Config and Reboot
Here is what my config:
/etc/gdm/custom.conf
looks like:
# GDM configuration storage [daemon] # Uncomment the line below to force the login screen to use Xorg WaylandEnable=false [security] [xdmcp] [chooser] [debug] # Uncomment the line below to turn on debugging #Enable=true
AND REBOOT !!!
Commands
I’m going to show you the script I used which I think is the quickest way to implement and understand this:
#!/usr/bin/bash # cvt 1920 1080 xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode Virtual1 1920x1080_60.00 xrandr -s 1920x1080_60.00
References
I stumbled across this link with the magic “comment out the WAYLAND0 stuff” … thanx dude !!!
I’ve done this stupid “cvt”, “xrandr”, blah blah a 100 times before I found my klu.

I prefer a PDF to print something like this.
I use plugin “Print, PDF & Email by PrintFriendly”.
